First off the online would have to be 100x's better than the crap on SSBB or it'd be pointless.
Secondly, I'd want to at least hear (if not see) my opponents because half the fun is how your friends react.
This would be largely a waste of 3D, even if the backgrounds are gorgeous with terrific depth and things coming at you, SSB is such an intense hectic game you wouldn't really appreciate it as you're forced to focus on the 2d playing field.
Otherwise SSB is an awesome game and would still be awesome on 3DS but not as much fun as playing with friends at home imo
