This is definitely something most people don't know. The retro staff had huge turnover in terms of designers and programmers while still trying to manage multiple projects. Even the CEO of Retro was exalted from his position in the last year of the first Metroid Prime! You can read all about it here http://www.n-sider.com/contentview.php?contentid=267&page=1 Not only that, but this happens in many studios today, perhaps not as much, but who knows maybe even more so. Nintendo doesn't necessarily need to find good people, they just need to find an outside studio that they can have a decent amount of control in. |
@gumby_trucker: I remember that. They had this twisted metal kind of game, plus a RPG and some other game if i`m not mistaken. I used the word probably as i didn`t really know how, and to what extent, was the impact of being handled by Nintendo. From recent comments i can see that Retro share`s more Nintendo`s philosophy than they ever did. That`s why i think Nintendo should work closely with other 2nd parties.
@robzo100 : They can mess with any studio they own but first of all, those same studios have to have good, talented people and second, if they lack the means on how to achieve their goals they have to be guided - as Retro was.
