that is because the rumor states there are 2 seperate UIs one that you posted and the other is for tablets/multitouch and looks significantly different...

True, but I still see no point. Tablets are PCs. There are already touchscreen PCs running W7 that work perfectly. The only thing I could see is them porting WP7 to tablets, not W8.


I think they see it as a compromise so they can compete more directly in the tablet market, yes there are full win 7 tablets but they are not very popular and the interface is not ideal. By creating a tablet UI that is optomised for small screens and multitouch interface and adding their .appx inititive so you can download simple apps, they can compete directly with iOS and android tablets without creating a third OS. While at the same time bringing apps to PCs and the option for power users to use native windows UI and aplications on a tablet.
