As for the console being imminent, not exactly.    Home consoles are usually first announced in some capacity about 2 years prior to their launch.  1.5 at the earliest.  If they talk of a new console at E3 this year.  Nov 2012 is the absolute earliest it would launch with Nov 2013 a more likely time frame.

November 2013? Nintendo can't possibly be that dumb. They can't be...

What exactly makes that a dumb move?
