Sony fans, let's talk.

Words cannot describe how irate I am over this all...and I'm PRO piracy!  Well, within rational limits.  I certainly don't think it's stealing, and like Neil Gaiman said, it's more like lending to your friends or getting a used copy. 

Anyway, Geohot wasn't really in the wrong, but let's be honest, he HAD to know that doing what he did would hurt sony by opening up the floodgates to hackers, piraters, and generally bad people.  While he and others may very well be "I just want my Linux and Sony screwed me outta that), the sad truth is that what he did was give the community a gun and told them only to shoot at targets, you'd have to be pants-on-head retarded to not know precisely what was gonna happen when you gave away that information.  he can claim ignorance all he wants, it won't hold up in court, and I fully expect him to crash and burn for it.  

Keep in mind I'm actually in favor of console hacking, ESPECIALLY after sony took away an advertised feature. 

As for anonymous...I hope Sony finds some way to find every one of them, sue the pants off them for damages, and ensure they're never legally allowed to come near a computer again.  I find this incredibly funny since I used to support them wholeheartedly, their attacks on the mass cult scientology, child porn sites, and the Westboro Baptist Church is what I call vigilante justice, but this is NOT justice, this is a calculated attack on innocent people.  Sony Employees are just doing their jobs, they don't make the decisions.  People like me who enjoy playing PS3 online should not suffer becuase people who claim to be fighting for my rights decided to fuck everyone over so they can enjoy a sense of superiority.  This is disgusting, this is pathetic, and I really do hope someone finds and destroys them.  

This isn't about freedom, this isn't about provacy, this isn't a holy quest, it's a bunch of whiny hackers mad becuae sony's actually taking action against them.  They're not fighting for our rights, they're just pissed off to all hell becuase they are scared that they won't be able to have games for free anymore in the future and their piracy just might lead to negative repercussions.  they don't want to suffer the consequences so they're lashing out.
