I guess there weren't many interesting eras remaining... But I'm still a bit disappointed despite expecting something like this. And don't get me wrong, it's just my personal opinion that almost everything that has firearms but no automatic weapons widely used is somewhat boring. I'm not sure if it's related to weapons actually, it's just that those eras are somehow boring to me, and they seem to have similar weapons in common.
Anyway, true or not, I'm definitely looking forward to this game. I, too, am much interested in the story - and maybe that's what I didn't care that much for Brotherhood either.
Also, it's kind of... interesting that we're basing this whole discussion on pictures sent by an anonymous tipster.
