Hm, Anarcho-Capitalism seems to be the only form of a economy that when left undisturbed from it's ideals worked. To put that a different way: pure-socialism failed on it's own merits, democracy as to the continious modification of capitalism thus pure capitalism doesn't exist and instead we have a Keynesian mixed capitalism... at least in America. All this while Anarcho-Capitalism took military or policing to see it's end.

There is always a fear factor though, the anti-Pure Capitalism camp will point to serfdom or worse yet slavery as examples of why Capitalism fails.

The anti-Socialism camp will point to centralizing power and a stripping of rights or a shifting of democratic like rights the consumer may have had in a capitalism.

Did the new deal work? No it didn't and Kasz went a bit overboard on claiming schools teach that it did end the great depression.  From what I remember the depression was techincally over in months after black thursday but unemployment stayed high mostly due to fear of investment.  I haven't cared much on economics since middle school though so it's demanding to try and remember this stuff.

I'm not certain if I have a position on pure-capitalism though... at least one without a clear bias.

Look at it this way, with enlightenment values the American dream can only reach it's fullfilment through as close to pure-Capitalism as possible and maybe even Anarcho-Capitalism. Socialism does not and perhaps could not fulfill that dream... so if what I said has some kind of axiomatic truth to it then the question is only is the American dream really something people (you) want?

But today I've noticed the same cliche of religion found in socialism, that you should fear life without it while also loving the idea of it. The cliche being of course that it enslaves you to your brother even in democratic social countries. The irony to it is cold and bitter, the cliche of totalitarianism and the ironic sadomasochism required of the common man.

Again that's not saying Capitalism is perfect, but it has proven itself persevering.

Good ideas have a tendency to survive the waves of opposing ideologies.

We're seeing the end to the welfare state in some countries, which are being fought tooth and nail. Europe is (thank God) tightening its budget by reducing the size and scope of government, as pervasive governments operate very innefficently and cause more harm than good.

If you really want to see anarcho-capitalism in action, look at the countries with the lowest taxes on people - Hong Kong and Switzerland. You find both are very well off in comparison to the nations around them.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
