PS3 reclaims the lead for the year by a hairs bredth. I'm pretty sure the North American launch won't be enough to put 3DS on top next week. Can it hold the top spot any time this year? The inevitable price cuts for all 3 home consoles will probably ensure that it takes 2nd place at best. I'm beginning to think there might be some merit to Beuli's prediction, although personally I think 3DS will edge out DS by a bit if DS doesn't get a price cut (I can't see one 2 years in a row). The YTD PS3>Wii gap should end the quarter around 200-250k after next weeks data and about 350k for PS3>360. Quarterly and fiscal year reports will be quite interesting. I'm curious to see PS2 numbers as well. We know Sony shipped at least 300k in January. On a small side note, with Dragon Quest X apparently not making it out this year it seems increasingly unlikely that Wii could come out on top this year. The gap for the year in Japan could be as much as 1 million. That's pretty insane when you think about it. Back in 2008 PS3 only outsold 360 in Japan by about 650k.
