The 3D of the 3DS blows, I can't say it often enough. I try what I can, but I just don't see much of a 3D effect at all.

Me, I tried it at some stores, and not only did the AR suck (for the reasons the OP mentioned whenever something was only partly on the screen), the 3D on the games only worked for me at the low setting, which was barely any 3D at all. But even then, it did not actually add any depth perception, which was the only real advantage of 3D that wasn't gimmicky (as how things look changes the style, not the substance).

I don't think I'll be using the 3D on this system, and wouldn't miss it if it was removed.

Your not alone on that. Its also one of  the reasons I think many will be waiting a long time to get one. How many people are willing to pay $250 for a feature they dont want. Im sure they have some reasons, but I dont see why they didnt make two different ones. One with 3D and one without. Price would  be different and those that dont want the 3D would not feel like they are paying a huge amount for the feature to be included.

It's like the hd movie player on the PS3. Even if it had loads of games I wanted, I wouldn't have bought it at full price anyway. Now it's more reasonable, which means I can actually look forward to getting it and the games I want for it.

I'm just not looking forward to the 3DS at this price.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
