Bullshit. 20% of the US eligible workforce is not out of a job. Even if it is that high, there are tons of jobs out there. They just need to lower their expectations and take something "beneath" them until a better job can be obtained. People need to do what they can and not rely on handouts or that perfect job. I've worked more than one before until I could find one that was better. They can too. |
There is a 25% unemployment rate for my county. All counties around me are 10 - 20%. Even Tampa is 14%. There is no taking a job beneath me, as they don't exist. I have open apps in Walmart, Target, Petco, Sams Club, Radio Shack, Best Buy, Pet Smart, hhgregg, two small time health food stores, GNC, etc. I keep them fresh. Been out of a job for a year now.
There are jobs that are above me, things that take masters degrees and above which I do not have. So I'm doing what a lot of others are, college for what I want to become (environmentalist of some form [consultant, etc]).
Face it, a lot of the jobs available are being taken up. You might say there are "tons" of jobs out there, but the applicant lists are massive. Chances of being hired to those jobs are slim as a lot of people want them. There are some that might not want to lower themselves all the way down, and there are ones that will not do good in certain things like me, I refuse to become a telemarketer. I could easily become one, but the first time someone tells me to f-off etc etc I'm going to attack that person right back and get myself fired as I don't take disrespectful shit from anyone. I ripped apart my department manager at walmart for that.
