Nintendogs is not my kind of franchise (mainly because - as strange as it may sound - playing a pet sim would make me sad), but imo it's one of the most underrated ones when it comes to game discussions.

From reviews:
"...it can be a sweet little distraction where you spend time with adorably well-realized puppies and accurately uninterested cats."

"The cats don't have the same level of interaction that the dogs have, generally just sitting around the house with general disinterest, regarding you with mild disdain and plotting world domination. Just like real cats then."

The reviewer of my most favourite mag (score 88/100, not represented on Metacritic) wrote that with the 3DS camera the puppies recognize their "owner" while other people who play with the same cartridge are being sniffed at cautiously. Uninterested cats, cautious puppies - typical Nintendo dedication to charming details.
