I wonder if 3DS sales are dropping so fast because of the novelty wearing off or the fact that the price is way too high.

I will go with price being way too high since that is the reason I won't buy it now.

Could it be that even though Ninty markets it as a new system, people still see it as simply a DS redesign instead of a new console?  Maybe they are seeing it like the XL, just another version of the DS and are less excited?  Im  talking fan perception ,mind you, I understand the 3DS is stronger and stuff.

Possibly, another thing is that there is not title that uses 3D in an innovative way yet.

Nintendogs was that TOUCH phenomenon game for DS

3DS needs a 3D phenomenon game for itself.

Do you see any in the wings?  I feel validating 3D will be a little harder than touch...

I see none...but nintendogs came out of nowhere.

Such games usually come out of nowhere....

But I agree with your general feel, having a must buy 3D game is gonna be harder than a touch one.

With NGP I am happy with how well developers are responding to it and I hope the back touch pad isn't a gimmick but can actually lead to some defining games for the platform.

But see, they already showed off Little Deviants, and that game where the character was like flying from buildings and stuff, Sony seemed to position some no name games in that "see we're doing something with it" category.  WIth 3DS I'm only aware of 3d version of old games, which won't be enough.  Maybe Kid Icarus?  No idea.
