I have to agree with this. Unless someone wants to get back into the series after a long hiatus or they are new to the series I can't see them not owning a DS already, and if they are new to it they are probably young enough to play it on whatever system their parents will buy them. So, frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if it continued to decline. I really don't recall a game ever getting a boost due to the release of a backwards compatable system (though it could have happened).
