So it was me against my friend. We are down to our last pokemon, my pidgeot vs his milotic. Now, i thought i was going to lose, his milotic had full health as did my pidgeot. I go first with a fly (trying to get away from his ice beam). he misses his ice beam, but then, my fly misses! What are the chances! (5% lol). Was that Hyper Beam a critical hit? Probably that would be the only way to OHKO a Milotic with it, given Pidgeot's crappy Sp.Atk stat (assuming that you both were on level 100).

Did you had an held item to boost the damage from Normal or Special Attacks? Because even a maxed Sp.Atk EV with benefitial nature Pidgeot (262 Sp.Atk max) against a non Sp.Def EV with detrimental nature Milotic (224 Sp.Def), using Hyper Beam (bonus STAB without any bonus damage from items) should do about 185 - 223, more or less. 

Given that Milotic, even with no HP EV's, at level 100 has 300 HP, it can only be killed by a Critical Hyper Beam from a Pidgeot (again, considering you don't have items to boost Normal or Sp.Atk damage).
