No kidding, it sucks to be Luigi. There's 3 times more Luigi than Mario in Super Mario Galaxy, but look whose name gets top billing.
For mascots, indeed, Mario is king of kings. Easily the most recognized video game mascot ever, owing no doubt to the fact that he's been around for the last 20 or 30 years and been featured in well over twice as many games as most mascots ever get.
