Goddamn shame that 2 companies dominated the software list.

As for consoles, one company still in the competition today is responsible for well over 50% of the consoles sold since the Magnavox Odyssey became the first video game console created in 1972.

Sony.

Yes, not Nintendo, Sony with the PS1 and PS2 sold more consoles than Nintendo did with the NES, SNES, N64 and Gamecube combined.*

You want to start something major, then start a thread arguing Sony with 2 consoles has done more and sold more for video games than Nintendo ever did. Sure Nintendo may have created the most icons, but would Nintendo have gotten into the video game console industry if they did not have Atari to learn from and emulate?

Now that would be a fun debate to jump into.

*I don't include hand-helds as they are like the little brother or red-headed step-child compared to the console experiece.

You don't know much of the video game industry history, do you?

Want to start the history lesson professor?

No point.  You'd either ignore the valid historical points, ignore the logic inferred or ignore the thread altogether.

It's obvious by the combination of your statement and other already directly replying to you with historical facts that you have no interest in the truth...only in what you already believe.  Instead of listening the facts, the truths and the logic, you WILL counterpoint with concepts you want to be true.  And that's where the problem lies.  You WANT certain concepts to be true regardless of their truthfulness and in the process with disavow the reality to continue to push your own 'concept of reality'.

Now before you get angry (if you haven't already), let me state that this is common in all belief structures (religion, politics....video games).   We ALL wish to see our version of reality be the true reality but it's not always the case no matter how hard we believe and because of that we tend to tune out real facts and logic because they don't support or own concepts.

Now if I am wrong and you truly wish to understand the history of the industry and why things happened the way they did, I'll be more than glad to help you out.  You just have to be willing to hear things you may not wish to accept as a fan of a certain company.
