That's making the assumption that it's not a video game if it's not played for fun, though. If you're going to start eliminating stuff because they're not games in the way you consider games, you're going to have some trouble. Are you going to say that Brain Training isn't a game, because it's mental excercise? And how about Chess, or Bridge?
Making definitions based from preferences never really ends well. The easiest way is to just define video games as "software sold that can be played exclusively on video game machines"
