I think that's a valid question and I'll try give it a valid answer
Probably the biggest 3 software titles that the Wii is boasting in '08 the first 2 probably won't apeal to the type of people who buy Wii's and I highly dought that they are titles that people would buy consoles for ( however I could be wrong on this )wheras WiiFit is most definetley a system seller no dought about it , perfect mass market software , mass worldwide apeal. |
Oh fer....The typical Wii gamer is still a normal gamer, not some home maker or octagenarian. SSB and MK are two of Nintendo's biggest franchises, and putting both online will drive demand that much higher. They will be aimed right at the market that made Mario Galaxy, Zelda TWiP, Super Paper Mario, Mario and Sonic, and Mario Strikers million sellers.
As for overall console sales, production is up, and if the Wii console sales do start to dry up, Nintendo could easily drop the price under $199 - and still clear a profit! There is almost no way that Wii sales will go DOWN this year.
With the Wii's monthly production nearing 1.8 million and still climbing, it is almost inconceivable that they won't tack on at least another 20 million by the year's end - more if they get production to 2 mil a month or more.
