why? while this is more of a profit motive then an environmental one, as an environmentalist I support this. Reduce paper, reduce waste, reduce deforesting. Basically a win-win-win.

Con green bullshit? Your as bad as every fing republican politician in the US. It is really sad that you live in the UK, one of that many countries actually fighting to improve the environment for its citizens and provide tons of LEGIT data proving climate change is happening, yet refuse to acknowledge that it is happening and we humans are speeding it up. If you don't realize that if we don't try to slowdown and prepare for the environmental disasters that are going to happen billions of lives will be lost.
And when was the last time you actually paid any attention to a game's manual? most games start with a picture of the controller layout and offer an addition picture of it under the option screen. They have become worthless.
Oh, and if you say "but GTA's maps" or something like that. Guess what? a map isn't a manual so all GTA games will continue to include a paper map of the cities.

I dunno what you think this country is doing, but if you think the politicians have done it for the benefit of us, 'the citizens', then you're deluding yourself. The politicians in the UK jumped on the environmental bandwagon at the height of Cameron's honeymoon period after taking over leadership of the Tory party, because it got him a bit of good 'the Tory party has changed, really' press and they all had to keep up with him. It was ALL about political opportunism, and nothing more.
Now, none of them can get off the bandwagon without looking like tools. So, instead of humiliating themselves, they decide to clamp down on debate on the subject by saying 'almost all scientific experts agree' (kinda like you just did), as if that justifies the large scale waste of taxes on uneconomical, nonsensical politically motivated policies.
P.S. You don't have to be a far right nut job, or an 'fing Republican' to be a sceptic of all the environmental scaremongering.

Even if they got stuck into it, there is enough evidence that shows it has improved the way of living for the average citizen. And they could easily scale back how much they are doing on that front without looking like tools, but they choose not to. And I do agree that there is a lot of political waste spending in which the private sector should actually be taking over, which from my knowledge most of the uneconomical spending can be slowly transitioned into the private sector just like many other programs.
And your right, you don't have to be a right-wing nut job to be skeptical, but currently the right-wing is throwing a lot of policies into the wind for the corporation that have actually helped or helping including the clean up the smog around San Francisco, reduce emissions from cars while pushing higher MPG. But even skeptics agree with some facts and can at least discuss programs without just randomly jumping out as saying its "con green bullshit." People who do that are just ignorant and refuse to actually review the facts, discuss things, and learn. They might be able to turn some opinions around on some topics and slow down certain pushes on policies that environmentalists are pushing hard for turning them into a an all at once type bill to a one gradual step at a time bill.
I also did state that this is obviously a profit motive for EA as removing manuals reduce paper and ink costs, as well as shipping cost due to reduced weight.
Also I do want to target a post earlier stating that less paper equals less jobs. That I find to be completely paper mills fault and not environmental pushes. There will always be a need for paper (cups, plates, napkins, computer paper, etc), but paper mills can translate any "lost jobs" when it come to processing paper from trees to processing paper from recycled paper which would actually save paper mills money as it uses less water and energy to create recycled paper or 50-50 paper, than non-recycled new paper.
