Gaming - IGN hates Nintendo - View Post

I like reading Ninty fans breakdown sometimes. What the hell are these unfounded points that they make, just outta curiosity. Cause their are things they should complain about and they dont.

Well like I said before I don't know what goes on in the heads of these idiot "journalists" but people do have foundation to believe what they want to believe about IGN.  When you have editors make unfounded claims on Nintendo systems and games it's obvious they're not caring about their journalistic integrity, they're obviously not trying to "help" Nintendo by pointing out something "wrong", they're going *whine* Splosion Man had more work put into it than NSMB Wii!

When objective players that play both know NSMB Wii has better level design and the multiplayer design is a mode to fuck over your friends rather than try to get through a tough spot.  NSMB Wii was specifically designed for 1 player platforming, with co-op added as a for fun mode, Splosion Man was a singleplayer game with specific (and completely separate) multiplayer levels that doesn't allow you to fuck over people you play with IE pick them up and throw them into a pit for example or bounce off their heads.

If the editorials were thought out really well it would be different.  Nintendo needs to fix their online system in the future, this would be reasonable and well thought out, friend codes suck, games requiring seperate friendcodes SUCK, the Wii would likely need a lot more room in the hardware to change the online system to something like a PSN system, so this would mean new hardware and old hardware couldn't update to have these features, this alienates early adopters and the system in place actually does work, just not efficient, but in the future... IE 3DS... they DID address this!

Thing is there is no editorials on issues like that but rather calling Nintendo lazy for having a slow release period.  Really guys?  A company that has fewer internal developers than a company like Sony, has put out the best selling and rated games this gen, and is stretched across two platforms and at the time working on new platforms (3DS).  Yes they're so lazy But where was the editorials calling other companies lazy?  Sony when it took till 2008 for less sporatic and quality releases on both PS3 and PSP, or Microsoft only having one platform to worry about and not having a lot of first party titles yet closes down one of their best studios when they don't have a lot of developers to begin with.

Does that make them biased against Nintendo?  *shrug* Does that make it suspicious?  Sure I'd say it's safe to think there are some issues there, especially when these editorials are not going through some checks.

Honestly I feel a lot of the issues with journalism lately has been publications aren't adapting at all, I've discussed this before but essentially it's the same conflict from SNES to PS1 era. Pro Nintendo journalists attacked PS1 titles without a lot of basis and died out in the process, now we have journalists that grew up on PS1/PS2 and enjoying the ideals those systems brought in but now tides are changing agai. PS3 and 360 which support the ideals of the PS1/2 era are being hyped like crazy and rated so highly, and these same reviewers are rather confused as to how to rate and rank these new ideals.  It's not in line with there's and as such they rate things lower and lash out a bit, they'll either adapt or die out like the last time.
