Um, improving a poorly recieved game has made better selling games in the past (perhaps the most extreme example being Street Fighter II). And if you are using Red Steel as your precedent, you are forgetting that game took away features, especially multiplayer, while this game only adds features.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
