COD is a bit of a stretch, but I don't know what you're seeing that makes you think this isn't incredibly linear. I've played it at both E3 last year and GDC this year, and trust me, this is no Crysis. Halo: Reach is very linear too, but this is even moreso. Understand that even if it were the size of Reach, the design of Reach is very linear. You rarely have more than one way to approach any situation. See, in the first Crysis you'd come into an area with an enemy base and you could completely choose how you assaulted that base. Angle, stealthiness, hop the wall, break the front door. All 360 degrees around that base were available to you. In Crysis 2, you come into a clearing, and there are things to fight, and that's it. That's how it works. Making a slightly more wide-open space than COD is not an accomplishment, nor does it change that the design is linear, when you're limited to a linear approach. Yes, you can stealth, but it's still just suit powers thrown into a Point A to Point B straight line shooter. You're not going to be able to come up with clever plans and traps for your enemies. |
You say something very different from people who have played the entire game. Ive read several early playthroughs who talk about changing AI, and vastly different ways to navigate the game.
Mainly all this from PC Beta players. And if anyone would critcise the game surely they would???
