Everyone’s aware that Japan has been hit by a huge earthquake (with many large aftershocks). Nintendo released the following statement in regards to the safety of their employees and the damage (or lack thereof) to their headquarters in Kyoto: We appreciate the concern shown in the aftermath of the recent disaster in Japan. We can confirm that at this time it appears that no one from Nintendo in Japan was injured and there was no apparent structural damage to our company headquarters in Kyoto. Business operations, including future product shipments, have not been affected. Our thoughts and best wishes are with everyone who has friends and family members who may have been affected by the earthquake or tsunami. And while this is hardly the time to be worrying about something so irrelevant in contrast as video games, Seattle Times specifically points out that “the catastrophe won’t affect business operations, apparently including shipments of the upcoming 3DS, which goes on sale March 27 in the U.S.” Click here if you would like to help the victims in Japan.
