one thing i dont understand, it seems that month for month xbox outsells ps3, but when the year totals come out, ps3 outsells the xbox.

Of course the Americas happen to the the Xbox 360's strongest market.  It also seems that Kinect appeals to the "Western" audience as well which gives the Xbox 360 boost in the Americas.  I really think Kinect was seriously needed to give the Xbox 360 a shot in the arm to sustain its current sale when you consider that the PS3 still outsells it worldwide.

That depends on your definition of "western". There are more more "westerners" in Europe than In NA (the main x360 stronghold far more so than the other americas)... but I "catch your drift".

I think  Sony may have "given up" on NA and consolidated on Europe. Beneath the surface they are doing a lot of  work in China and seem to have convinced the Chinese govermnent that there is a US$15bn gaming market there to be tapped in five years after a major launch. Maybe all this piracy news is part of it, I don't know.

If you can get the fastest growing economy in the world (and predicted to knock america of top spot in a few years) with the biggest population in the world you can't be on to a bad thing...even if the games sold there might be a bit..unusual.

When I say "westerns," I'm referring to cultural mentaility.

I thought so ... but wasn't sure. I agree.
