How is it going too far? Just look at Sony's case right now or their banning ways. If this is what piracy has lead to, then so be it.

Bricking is going too far in a legal way, I'm not talking in a moral way. I'm sure that Nintendo would have very serious problems with the justice if they decided to remotely kill some consoles, and it's traceable to them.
