This is phase one. It had to happen, and it's good that it's happening. This is how one builds back support. If Nintendo hadn't pushed forward with such strong titles, they couldn't be sure they would be in the position they are now, where third parties are starting to look to them as the most viable platform. On the flip side, if they had more support from third parties, they could have eased off, delayed production of a couple games (okay, a couple *more* games), and let the third parties sell Nintendo's systems. If everything goes to plan, by the '08 holiday season, it *will* be the third parties selling the Wii, and possibly the DS just as much as Nintendo. But, honestly, this is what had to happen for Nintendo to achieve a market equilibrium.
