The mic thing is a nice addition. If you blow or talk into the mic on the music screen you can "see" your voice. Maybe I should up a video of that?
That IR connection might have a lot of uses. E.g. with my cell phone I can send pics to my printer (without the need to take the memory card out), maybe that's possible with the 3DS too after an update.
