Why not? It made millions of Nintendo gamers perfect specimens in regards to levels of fitness with... Wii Fit.
Oh wait.
I think there may have been a few in the Nintendo faithful camp that somehow thought the VS was going to be the next Wii Fit and would boost console sales to new heights once again. Two years later, common sense says not likely.
But I don't think Nintendo has scrapped the idea completely and would not be surprised to see it incorporated into the standard controller/wand of their next gen system, losing the pulse/oximeter finger clip and instead building the sensor into the controller in the form of conductive panels like those found on the grip handles of elliptical trainers and treadmills.
I just don't see the point in Nintendo releasing another peripheral that will see minimal support this late in the development cycle. I don't know who's up for buying another game that will come with a Nintendo peripheral that will only be used with that one game and maybe a couple others.
