3rd parties did it to themselves. For the first 2 years, anything that wasn't made by Nintendo had over a 95% chance fo being a dud. If you just went by covers, like most casuals, you would have been burned at least once. Sticking with Nintendo was the only way casuals could prevent themselves from buying a coaster in a fancy box. It's quite an unfortunate circumstance. The reason why Just Dance sold so much is only because of word-of-mouth. That's part of the reason the game has such long legs compared to others.
