3D mario and Zelda are much easier due to being in 3D.  3D open world games you have no danger against enemys because you can just simply run around them or exploit the open space to take an easier route to getting to the goal rather than what the developer intended (mario galaxy 2 cloud power up)

Also 3D games are much, much easier on Nintendo to make.  In fact instead of making bigger worlds or maps to roam your getting smaller maps that connect together via a pre animated scene of mario flying in between them, throw some enemys on them and presto.  Level done.  Its really lazy to be honest.

Verses a 2D game where mario must confront most enemys and obsticles to pass due to limitation of a camera stuck in one position.  Which means they must design the levels to be longer, really think of where everything must be placed to challenge the player.  But thats work and challenging, besides how will Miyamoto get the time to make a long skippable cutscene of mario having a panic attack when he sees koopa, which then the so called mario fanbase will call me a baka gaijin for not reading a manga not released in any western speaking country or understanding his vision?
