You can't really blame writer favoritism with a straight face (in the way you could for, say, Wesley Crusher), as Squirrel Girl was always intended as a one-off joke, and the joke was expanded to deliberately make her an oblivious Mary Sue

Ironically, Thanos suffers from a more straight-faced author favoritism. The guy who created him will retcon any "defeat" he suffered by saying "that was a clone."


Oh, okay, joke character. Got it. Nothing against the character, just misunderstood what was going on.
