If there's one thing that makes my skin crawl it's pointless animal cruelty. I think it's low, as low it gets. It makes me outraged. It's the animals inability to control the situation in cases like this, where they are essentially defensless and have caused no harm to anyone. Wanting to inflict pain on an animal in this situation is just sadistic.
This player could have easily called for the handler to collect it, no harm done. The play had been stopped, and that would have been the logical thing to do. But no, he saw the owl and decided to kick it as hard as he could (which for a soccer player is bloody hard). The only reason I think he would have done it is for his own sadistic pleasure, and that makes me extremely angry!
