Just because a genre isn't popular doesn't mean you shouldn't support it. It just means you should be sensible with your expectations.
Hell, my favorite games list is littered with Niche only games.
Tactics Ogre. (Remake is even better.) (Turnbased SRPGs)
MLB Power Pros. (Chibi Baseball RPG)
Ogre batle series. (An even nicher version of SRPGs then the average.)
Gemfire (Turnbased war simulator games like ROTK.)
Fallout (Turnbased Isometric RPG.)
Just because you like something, doesn't mean someone else will no matter how well done it is. I could make the perfect wreslting simulation game... where you don't play matches, but only set them up and watch them....
and it ain't going to sell a mil no matter HOW perfect it is.
