My personal opinion has always been that this gen wont end for at least another 3 - 5 years because the HD consoles have been beaten by a device that is inferior in graphical output. thus the current capabilities of the PS3 are far ahead of what the mass consumer has demanded this far. so in a nutshell, i think the PS3 still has a long time to go before the chips are counted. i think it will do phenominally well in 2013 - 2015 when it will be a lot cheaper and the library will speak for itself.
there are massive reasons why i think the PS3 will last for ages, but i would end up writing so much stuff, no one would read it anyway, so i think the PS3 still has a lot longer for reasons i havent discussed solely in this post.
