I thought that might be the reason... PS3 is actually pretty easy to fix in comparison to PS2 and PSP.
It is more irritating now that I have seen the old fiscal data that Renar posted a link to, because back in 2000 was when they changed to the "produced = shipped" figures.
So they previously reported retail sales before PS2s release.
