Well FF10-2 was substantially less then FF10. despite FF10 being a critically acclaimed game. and being the 2nd best selling FF in the series.

FF13 is hardly in the same boat and FF13 has not achieved the same critical or commerical success of FF10. in fact critically it has done the opposite.

i think its aliened longtime fans and will likely not do over 2mil.

if we look at Europe the fans have been unforgiving in sales, with FF10-2 and FF9 not topping 1 mil in the region. i think FF13-2 will not be successful there, same goes for Japan where the fans seem to have declined since FF12. FF13 hasnt toped 2mil in the region, doubt FF13-2 can top 1.5 even 1mil  in Japan. doubt it will do well in the US either.

not to mention a sequel to an RPG  is not likely to bring in new fans, even if the RPG sequel is the highest rated game of the year, eg Mass Effect 2. and FF13-2 will have to have reviews of that magnitude for people to want to buy it. even then its unlikely to bring in new fans, looking at the sales of Mass Effect 2. so imo things are looking very grim for the sequel.
