Suddenly the PS3 doesn't seem so expensive

The 3DS will of cores cost more then it's predecessors because of the more expensive Tech it uses of corse US250 dose seem a loy for a Handheld Console but you can't expect to get new technolagy for the same price as the old going. 

the biggest cost for the 3DS is the screens which nintendo dont make and i believe are from toshiba. 

but must remember that the europeans are paying 348 USD (last time i checked) for the 3DS, so around 100 USD more. 

 

Sony did jam alot into PS3, they should have understood that the market wanted a console that was both affordable and powerful. For a fraction of the cost they could have simply tied up with 360 power wise and they would have sold a shit load more units and software would have been flowing in day one rather then years later. If Sony had stuck to the 250-350$ price point I think they would have had alot more success and might have even taken on Wii let alone probably beat 360!

Well actually I'm pretty sure Sharp is making the screens for 3DS. As for it being more expensive due to higher tech. I myself understand this but it still angers Nintendo fans. DS was a major hardware leap from GBA, it had two screens instead of one, one of those screens was a touch screen which also boosted price. Graphically the hardware was superior it also featured a Mic. The hardware was extremely advanced compared to GBA, yet Nintendo launched it at the same price of 150USD.

So yes I think the 3D screen must be expensive to build but is it more expensive then adding a second screen, touch screen , Mic etc...etc... that DS added? I don't know but charging a 100$ more is of course going to upset fans.

I said this to some Friends about 2-3 years ago that SONY with the PS3 delivered a replacement this

when the consumer wonted a replacemwnt for this

 

NINTENDO might be using TOSHIBA 3D Screens I am not shore if SHARP makes Glassessless 3D Screens.

also I don't think we know how much profit NINTENDO is making on the 3DS yet. in any case it will still sell and do better from launch then the NGP I suspect like all NINTENDO Handhelds before it. but I agree that handheld  costing as much as Home Consoles dose leave a bad taste.
