While I'd rather not butt in, I'm just going to correct you here: Sony, if I'm not mistaken, own the Resistance IP. Microsoft, on the other hand, does not own the Gears of War IP. Owning the IP, and publishing rights, are two different things.

So they can't be compared.

Yeah, so what you're saying is Insomniac is forced into exclusivity, while M$ pays for their exclusivity...interesting.  Makes you wonder why Insomniac is launching a multiplatform, when they could be fat dumb and happy launching games on the PS3 forever....

 

He's saying Sony owns the right to the Insomiac exclusive IP's they have. Microsoft only has publishing rights with Gears, but doesn't own the IP. Same story with Mass Effect and how they lost the exclusivity of the IP as it's multiplatform now. Microsoft publishes iterations from third parties of their franchises rather than buying the IP outright.
