EA never confirmed it was canned.

They also said that:

"Mirror's Edge is an IP that's close to my heart and EA's as well. It was a bold move from us. I'm proud we made it. It obviously didn't reach the commercial success we wanted, even though it wasn't bad at all," he said.

"I still think as a company we're going to talk about it when we're going to talk about it. What I can say is, we haven't buried it. We're absolutely continuing to support Mirror's Edge as an IP. When we're ready to talk about it, we'll talk about it."

There's still hope!!

Mirror's Edge 2 is my most requested sequel this gen so I'd be devastated if it was confirmed.

Since everyone else is ignoring this, do you have a link for this?  I thought I remember reading those statements prior to this new news.

They should make the sequel a Kinect game.  I'm already thinking of some ways to handle controls (though simplified).  It would give it a unique enough take that would make more people interested, as Kinect needs more core gaming.  But, then again, reports of motion sickness would probably quadruple, lol.

How would you move your character effectively in a 3D space?

Granted this is sure to get ripped apart by someone, but remember I'm just throwing ideas out there and this isn't my profession.

Anyway, I was thinking how you could swing your arms like the character does when she's running to run, hand gesturing left or right to turn (palm flat), put your flat palmed hands together and lift up to jump, and stuff like that.  I think it could be really immersive and cool.

Ok, feel free to rip it, me and Kinect apart now, folks ...

Constantly doing that motion would get really old and tiring really fast, how would you inch up to an edge?  How would you turn and turn around effectively?  How would you effectively time your jumps with the inherent lag of Kinect? This isn't ripping apart your idea it's real questions on how this would work in practice.

Playing the first mirrors edge was all about precise jumps from placement to timing.
