The rant is barking up the wrong tree.

The reason why PC gaming isn't so hot in the west is thus:

PC required to do basic web surfing and office work.

  • Pentium 4 1.8 - P4 2.8Ghz
  • 512-1GB RAM
  • 80GB HDD
  • Integrated POS graphics
  • Windows XP

The PC required to play Crysis 2

  • Core 2 Duo 2.0Ghz
  • 2GB RAM
  • 80GB HDD
  • 8800GT graphics card
  • Windows XP

I know heaps of people with really really really old PCs who can't be arsed to upgrade them. Mentally its just easier to think 'console = games' than go through the multiple step process of figuring out a new computer purchase.

Thats recommended specs for like all newer, publisher games. So anything stronger will actually last a few years. Sadly more people are getting netbooks then even freaking laptops let alone a desktop. Even the $299 desktop at walmart is actually decent for gaming.

Lucky thoughm most smaller awesome games like Super Meat Boy and Monday Night Combat require this or less:

  • OS: XP(SP3)/Vista/Windows 7
  • Processor: 2 GHz Processor
  • Memory: 1 GB RAM
  • Graphics: DirectX 9.0c/Shader3.0 compatible, VRAM 512 MB (NVIDIA GeForce 7800 series or ATI Radeon X1900)
  • DirectX®: 9.0c
  • Hard Drive: 2 GB of free space
  • Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card

Most laptops easily beat this, and in two generations netbooks should.

PC gaming is better than console gaming. Always.     We are Anonymous, We are Legion    Kick-ass interview   Great Flash Series Here    Anime Ratings     Make and Play Please
