To be able to better compare the two devices without resorting to list wars.

The 3DS still has a touchscreen, so nothing has been lost compared to the DS.

Games will be important, but I'm excited to see how the two hold up in the long run when compared to smartphones and the like. Smartphones have changed what people expect to get from their portable devices these last few years after all.
