I'm quite aware of its Japanese history, down to the password system used in DQ1 there. However, my post was in reference to the US release, which, yes, did have a name change to avoid potential copyright issues with a tabletop RPG. Same goes for the publishing deal; the post I was in response to states they were unaware of Nintendo publishing 1-6 anywhere.
