Frankly I think more 3rd party devs are going to put more effort into NGP then 3DS, when it comes to nintendo consoles/handheld, no 3rd party ever even comes close to the sucess of Nintendo always overshadowed and always with the cartoony graphics, NGP is said to be really easy to dev for, personally I think NGP will see alot more innovation when it comes to games and a ton of new IPs, I mean the NPG is the ideal platform for anyone who wants to advance in the industry or even start, the Idevices are fine for flash level and a little above games but they are nothing compared to the handhelds so anyone who wants to be taken seriously in terms of core games and maybe even work their way to full console games is going to be looking at the NGP, where the 3DS will be more like a sales grab to 3rd parties and not really care about the quality of the game as long as it sells (we've seen it on the DS) |
No 3rd party on ANY platform comes close to Nintendo's level, or ever has really. It's an almost impossible standard, and one that sort of overlooks that when 3rd parties put in the effort on a Nintendo system (like they did on NES, SNES and DS) they generally did just fine. If "Nintendo level" is what they should expect, it's not like they're making it on any PlayStation or Xbox system either.
Also, it's not like 3rd parties banked on PSP either... if Nintendo's reputation is going to make 3rd parties apprehensive about a "sure thing" platform like 3DS, what do you think PSP's disastrous western software market is going to do to NGP commitments?
Of course, just looking at the actual developer commitments already shows this isn't going to be the case anyway. Capcom, Tecmo Koei, Level 5 and other 3rd parties are already going all in on 3DS, despite the "threat" of Nintendo's shadow...
