Obvioulsy, it will sell millions.  But there is a decent argument that it would actually sell less if it goes multiplat.  I expect a high percentage of DQIX's sales in Europe were due to Nintendo's heavy advertising (in the U.K, I would say it was among the most advertised games of 2010).  Nintendo would be much less likely to advertise the game if it as multiplatform.

There's also the rumour that Dragon Quest IX wasn't even going to be localised until Nintendo stepped in, which might not have happened if it as multiplatform.  I think that the sucess of DQIX, if anything has made X going multiplatform less likely as it made Nintendo and S-E closer.

That's not to say I find it strange that S-E is barely supporting the Wii, consider one of it's biggest metatonne franchises is going to hit the console.
