If you notice the most wanted weekly list from famitsu and the actual sales from those games when they release, you'll see that things don't add up. Just take a look at FFXIII sales on Japan. That game was 2 years in Famitsu top 10 most wanted titles. Dragon Quest X is there on the top positions (2nd I think?) although I really doubt the game can break even 3 million due to the Wii's situation on Japan. Sorry for the slightly off topic =) |
Famitsu's readers=/=entire gaming public. It's as if they took a poll from GameInformer readers. It won't be a completely honest showing considering all of your survey base is already interested in those titles. Hardcore fans are also a lot more likely to vote for their favorite game series than normal fans. That's why smaller, niche titles creep up on the Most Wanted list.
