The only thing that was ever claimed is that the out of stock issue for the 360 in the US may not be cleared up yet. If you understand how stock levels at big box retailers work, you would know that they don't order stock for themselves and that every region has warehouses that keep supplies of high selling items. The likely scenario is that when microsoft told the resellers to sell their JAN/FEB stocks, they did just that. Along with that, they have probably been drop shipping(shipping via fedex or UPS) direct to stores to keep up with sales or replenish stock. Either way, the point of the thread was to communicate what i found, i hope through the thousands of users here, get more feedback on stock levels elsewhere.
