I don't think the comparisons with Blue Dragon really do TLS any favors.

The Wii userbase is actually 50 times larger than the 360 was when Blue Dragon launched.  Blue Dragon also boosted hardware sales from 4,460 to 37,821.  Userbase doesn't mean as much when they get larger, but the 360 base was so tiny you really couldn't have expected much better for Blue Dragon.

It also had pretty decent legs throughout the holiday season, so it'll be fairly tough for TLS to beat its total sales.

Or it could be that the appeal of these games really is that small. Look at the sales of new IP RPGs in Japan, and it bears that out.

So are you saying userbase and platform don't matter at all?  White Knight Chronicles sold a little over 200k first week.  Would it have sold the same if it had launched on the 360 with a ~200k install base?  Does that only work for new IP RPGs or all games?

Not new IPs, but both Graces and Vesperia sold a lot more on PS3 than Wii/360.  Are you saying not a single one of those people would have bought games like Blue Dragon if it had been on PS3 as well?  Maybe it is mostly Tales fans buying multiple copies, it'll be interesting to see how Xilia does.
