He was likely talking about Mercs 3D and/or Revelations. The early trailer for Revelations used RE5 models which have since been replaced.
...and RE5 would never run on Wii. Any talk of such is seperated from reality.

Oh please, the game could've easily been downconverted with some minor concessions (ie: no split-screen, lower res textures, baked HDR lighting, etc). Look at the models, effects and environments in DSC, they're actually incredibly impressive given the hardware and budget for the game.
As is, I'd say RE5 is probably the least complex looking MT Framework title, even less so than early efforts Dead Rising or Lost Planet. It'd have certainly made more sense for a conversion than Dead Rising did.

Which is why I'm suspicious that DR was chose just as an excuse to claim those games can't run on the Wii.

Yeah conspiracy, Capcom out to make an example so do not have to make anymore games for the Wii, it isn't just that the Wii cannot do them well or even at all, Capcom even willing to lose money to do make this sabotage happen. Lets ignore MH3 that was design for Wii so will be decent on it.
This is Capcom, they love to port. If they could have they would have.

I don't think it was sabotage or any conspiracy, just unfortunate decision making.
Capcom even said after seeing Cavia's work with DSC (with it's high quality models, widespread bump mapping, specular highlights and prebaked HDR), maybe a Wii version of RE5 could've been possible after all. At that point it was obviously too late though, it's always easy to retroactively say they should've done something but at the time things just worked out differently.
