CAPCOM's internal machine was developed to the PS3/360 and, as such, is heavly dependent of shaders, which are supported by the 3DS. To adapt it to the Wii, they would have to re-write the graphic machine to work with TEVs, which they clearly found not to be worth of the effort.
A Wii version of RE5 should look as good as Conduit or Goldeneye. Personally, that's good enough to me.
