Luke has combined production shipments with shipment shipments (the former is produced PS2s in factories). The shipment shipments are 149.7m - I base this on press releases BKK2 found showing that as of March 2009, PS2 shipments were lower than production shipments by several million units. In other words adding production shipments to shipments counts 2-3m PS2s twice.
Either way, with PS2 shipping 1m plus per quarter still, it likely has topped 150m as of the end of January. That said - Sony will have a press release when its official. They had one at 120m and at 100m - no reason not to at 150m.

Moreover, we have 136.3m units sell in as of Dec 2008 (note at the bottom)
Since then (Jan 2009 - Dec 2010): 13.9m
So I get about 150.1m from this as of the end of Dec 2010, and I had 149.7m. Hmm I must have a mistake somewhere
